Hi gang:

Just got this email from an former employee. Great guy.

Could be a good writing gig for one of you. Can do it anywhere in Canada.

cya,

Wayne

Subject: know of any Olympic bloggers?

Hi Wayne,

I hope you are well and things are good for you.

I was wondering in your world of contacts if you would know anyone who is looking for a short term writing/blogging contract (which could potentially grew into a bigger contract).

Here's what we're looking for:

Yahoo! Canada is searching for an Olympics blogger to cover the Vancouver Games. In fact, we're looking for two: one to write English and one to write en français.

This is an “armchair analysis” blog written from the contributor’s home base - Olympic sports technical knowledge is not required though it is an asset. We're looking for someone to pen the buzz items about the 2010 Winter Games. This is an opportunity for a clever writer to step into the spotlight and reach a readership of 17 million Canadians.

The criteria:

· Proving writing ability: clean copy, quick turnaround

· Creative: ability to generate many story ideas and publish multiple times daily

· An Olympics enthusiast knowledgeable about sports, Canadian athletes and the Games in general

· Witty and opinionated

· Demonstrates an understanding of successful blogging strategies

If you know someone who would be a good fit, have them email the Y! Canada Olympics Editorial Team at ca-olympic-team@yahoo-http://www.facebook.com/l/38cbf;inc.com

All submissions should include a cover letter explaining why they are best suited to be Y! Canada’s official Olympics blogger, CV, writing samples, and story idea list. The Olympics editorial team will review the submissions and reach out to those candidates with whom we wish to follow up.

Here's an example of the voice and format we're looking for.

Also, we're looking for some Sports and News editors, which you may have seen on various job boards. Feel free to pass on those job opportunities as well. It's nice to be at a place that is actually hiring/looking for writers!

Cheers,

Trevor Wilker
